Laura and Albert work hard to harvest honey from a beehive after making a deal with Mr. Oleson, who said he would buy it at 30 cents a pound. Eventually, Charles discovers what happens and teaches Laura a lesson about lying. When Christmas comes around, all the Ingalls are caught up in the secrecy and excitement. Charles and Mary take jobs to obtain gifts for their loved ones, but Laura cannot think of what to give or how to raise money, until she realizes she has something of value in her horse, Bunny, which Nels Oleson (Richard Bull) wants to buy for Nellie. Christmas Day brings some surprises, and Carrie learns the meaning of Christmas. While Charles and Mr. Edwards are away for three weeks on a delivery trip for Mr. Hanson, Mary is enthralled by the prize to be awarded for the best score in an extra-credit examination, a Webster's Dictionary.

Mary and Laura begin their first day of school at Walnut Grove and meet their school teacher, Miss Beadle (Charlotte Stewart). While Caroline has to learn how to deal with Harriet Oleson (Katherine MacGregor), the rich part-owner of Oleson's Mercantile, Laura learns how to deal with the Olesons' spoiled daughter, Nellie (Alison Arngrim). Then Laura encounters an even greater problem, when all the children have to write an essay for Parents' Day, but when the day comes, she creatively rises to the occasion. A Japanese anime television series of 26 episodes (about 24 minutes each), originally entitled Sōgen no Shōjo Laura. The First Four Years, published in 1971, is commonly considered the ninth and last book in the original Little House series.

After the show, she continued to act in film and TV shows such as The Equalizer, Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Murder, She Wrote. She also wrote an autobiography entitled The Way I See It - A Look Back at My Life on Little House. Anderson won an Emmy in 1979 for an Afterschool Special, Which Mother is Mine?.

Backdoor pilot

A vengeful Larabee goes to the Garveys house with a shotgun, but Andy is the only one home and Larabee lashes out at him, accidentally injuring him. When Larabee leaves, Andy gets a lamp and begins looking for his mom and dad. When the Garveys return home, they find their barn in flames, and Larabee is fingered as the likely culprit. At his trial, there are several surprising developments, including Andy's confession about leaving the lamp by the barn on a windy night, which prompts the judge to throw out the barn burning charge. He still finds Larabee guilty of assault and instead of any additional jail time, he orders Larabee to recompense Jonathan for the value of his lost wheat crop.

Michael Landon

Subsequently, the shots of her running down the hill with her sisters were removed from the opening theme. Former college football star Pete Ellerbee comes to Walnut Grove to coach the town's football team and to encourage his son in playing. Albert joins the team and is inspired by Ellerbee's stirring pep talks about teamwork, responsibility and doing your best.

The Television Mini-Series

"Little House on the Prairie" ran for nine seasons, letting viewers follow the Ingalls family and the town of Walnut Grove through an epic series of misfortunes and blessings. All good things, however, must come to an end — and "Little House" was no different. "Little House on the Prairie" had Michael Landon's stamp on it from the beginning, and he exerted a lot of creative control over the show — so much, in fact, that he reportedly drove away Ed Friendly, his co-executive producer. In a 1974 interview with People, Friendly complained that Landon had no business being a writer or producer.

Royal's wife believes a parent should never say 'No' to a child, and their boys' constant mischief tries the patience of Almanzo and Laura, who are determined to adopt a different parenting style with their own children. A female campaigner for the equal rights of married women comes to Walnut Grove, looking for signatures on a petition to be submitted to the state legislature. The men are all reluctant to sign, including Nels, who is in the middle of another big disagreement with Harriet. Charles and Almanzo also oppose it, even though they believe in equality and joint ownership in their own marriages.

A crushed Laura prays with the Reverend for Charles to find the strength for them to somehow stay in Walnut Grove. Meanwhile, Mary and John are discovering they have feelings for each other. Laura has a crush on a new boy in school named Johnny Johnson, an older student in her class (Mitch Vogel) but Johnny only wants to be her friend, while he is romantically attracted to Mary who has no interest in him. Laura's jealousy leads to her accusing Mary of deliberately encouraging Johnny and they fall out. Caroline and Charles both have quiet talks with Laura to restore harmony in the family.

It covers the earliest years of Laura and Almanzo's marriage.[45] The style is less polished than the other books because it was discovered among Laura's papers after her death and published unedited. Little House on the Prairie, published in 1935, is the third book in the Little House series but only the second that features the Ingalls family; it continues directly the story of the inaugural novel, Little House in the Big Woods. Some of the episodes written by Michael Landon were recycled storylines from ones that he had written for Bonanza. She was — and felt like — a kid, and he was — and looked like — an adult.

Get ready for the ultimate celebration of your favorite television series. The Little House on the Prairie 50th Anniversary Cast Reunion & Festival is a once-in-a-lifetime event taking place March 22, 23, and 24, 2024 in Simi Valley, California where the original TV series was filmed. In the end, there's something fitting about the way the show adds back in some of the darker and wilder dramatic elements that Wilder (understandably) left out of her original children's books. Maybe this is just a story that's destined to go through cycles of being toned down and amped up.

Backdoor pilot

Gilbert told Entertainment Weekly, "I'd catch frogs, and Mike would put the frogs in his mouth and walk over to people and talk, and then the frogs would jump out. ... [The women would] always scream." No kidding. But when it wasn't time for work, it was time for play, and the play could get as enthusiastic and goofy as anyone could possibly want. Inseparable buddies Melissa Gilbert and Alison Arngrim were constantly playing together. At a cast reunion, Gilbert talked to EW about how she and Arngrim used to organize "some epic games of tag and Red Rover."

Karen Grassle (Caroline Ingalls, Ma)

In 2008, she became the spokeswoman for Premier Bathrooms, a maker of bathing supplies for the elderly. Luckily, we’ve had a little invention since the 1800s called the Internet, and we were able to track some of our favorite cast members down. Bateman has been married to Amanda Anka, daughter of crooner Paul Anka, since 2001.

Meanwhile Charles has problems with the corruption he witnesses at the Grange meetings. Reverend Alden gets badly hurt while on his way to collect donations for a struggling town in another part of his parish. Caleb Hodgekiss, an ex-convict, finds him and takes him to his house where his wife takes care of him.

She also sold lemon verbena perfume, like she was known for wearing on the show. "I had a whole spiritual journey for maybe 20 years, I’ve worked in finance on Wall Street, lived in Manhattan for a long time," Gilbert, 56, says. Two episodes of FOX's Family Guy, Little House related scenes are shown.

Season 5 (1978–

Laura and Almanzo clash again over their different aspirations for their marriage, and this is aggravated when Laura comes to believe that Almanzo is having an affair with one of his former girlfriends, Brenda Sue. Laura returns to her family, saying she wants to leave Almanzo, and even picks a fight with Brenda Sue. Mrs. Oleson seems to enjoy spreading the bad news, but Charles and Caroline help to bring Laura and Almanzo back together. Meanwhile, Charles has his own problems with Laura as he tries to fit a new picture window in the house. The school district's superintendent comes to Walnut Grove, looking for someone who can replace a teacher who has fallen and broken her leg.

The husband in the family that gives Mary accommodation has the same harsh beliefs and is also hostile towards Mary. After one of Mary's students tries to kiss her and she hits him to stop him, Miss Peel accuses Mary of being a 'Jezebel', and, feeling outnumbered, Mary retreats home. However, after a talk with her father, she goes back with Charles, and at a church meeting Mary takes on her opponents, and it emerges that Miss Peel cannot read, which is why she misquotes the Bible. As they all sing a hymn, Miss Peel accepts the hand of friendship that Mary offers to her. And in the quest for new ideas, the writing team ventured into some strange territory.

Cast

Ultimately, he chooses to remain in Walnut Grove for what may be his last days, where he spends his time making special memories and receives the offer of a four-year scholarship from the university he had planned on attending. Though weak and seriously ill, Albert is determined to spend the rest of his time in life doing all he can. In contrast, Laura does not truly come to grips with Albert's possible imminent death until late in the story, and wishes that he rest in bed rather than exhaust himself. Albert soon falls in love with a long-time friend called Michele Pierson, and Charles starts a cooperative with the local farmers in order to compete with the large farms.

The show continued for another 4 seasons and a spinoff often rebranded as season 9. When boxer Joe Kagan's career seems to be going nowhere, he chooses to continue boxing rather than keep his family with him. Unable to compete in the professional circuit, he travels to small towns and takes challengers for money. While he is stricken with medical problems, a fight with Charles Ingalls ends his career. After being nursed back to health by Charles, Joe decides to stay in Walnut Grove and make a new living as a farmer. He then finds that his own estranged son is now trying to become a boxer.

It's a little jarring, then, to get to the last episode and find that the show concludes with the townspeople blowing Walnut Grove to kingdom come. But this weird soap opera quality is one of the things that makes "Little House" endure. The show managed to have as many water cooler-worthy twists as "Game of Thrones," and fans are still boggling over some of them.

Labyorteaux's brother also appeared as Laura's friend, Andrew "Andy" Garvey. She also made her feature film debut in the 1981 horror Happy Birthday to Me. She has since appeared in various movies and TV shows, including The Con Is On with Uma Thurman in 2018. Melissa Sue Anderson played Mary Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie from seasons 1 through 7.

She wasn't sure she was ready to kiss anyone, let alone someone so far out of her realm of experience that she had to worry about him scraping her with his stubble. Her mother would be on-set to chaperone, but there was only so much anyone could do to make Gilbert feel comfortable. That combination of history and nostalgia is what helps keep the show meaningful. If you watch it now, it shows optimism existing both on the prairie and in the real-life '70s, when the show was being made. Alison Arngrim is sometimes there for three months, making the rounds of public appearances and meeting adoring fans. As she said to The New York Times, her French fans "don't think [Nellie's] mean. They just think she's French."

Cruise from Port Canaveral Orlando with Carnival

www.carnival cruise line

Carnival Freedom is ideal for first-time cruisers because of the lower guest capacity and the smaller ship size. But don’t let the numbers fool you; this ship is packed with high-energy activities for all ages; from the kid's clubs to the casino, there’s no lack of fun to be had. Carnival Breeze is ideal for a short cruise out of Galveston, Texas. The ship has plenty of activities throughout the day, including bingo, trivia, and live performances in the comedy club.

Online Check-in and Arrival Appointment

Arrival Appointments do not apply to guests starting their cruise in Barbados. Please arrive promptly within your Arrival Appointment to reduce your wait time in line. Sailings range from two to nine days out of Port Canaveral, so you can get a taste of what a cruise is like without committing to a more traditional weeklong sailing. Expect an onboard brewery, incredible restaurants, and family-friendly fun. Carnival Sunrise  (formerly Carnival Triumph) features an exciting splash zone for kids and a piano bar where adults can sing along to their favorite songs all night. The ship sails on two to five-night and six to nine-night cruises from Miami, Florida, to the Bahamas. Carnival Mardi Gras is a nod to Carnival’s first ship, also named Mardi Gras, which was launched in 1972.

CRUISE SHIPS

In addition, every ship has at least one — and usually several — extra-charge eateries. The two venues have flat fees of $49 and $24 per person, respectively. Every vessel has two main dining rooms and a casual buffet eatery where meals are included in the fare.

How much does a Carnival cruise cost?

You’re about to discover just what awaits you on a Carnival cruise. Start by exploring the incredible ports we visit… and the fun things to do, both on the ship and ashore. Starters include blue mussels, seared shrimp, oysters and the aforementioned lobster mac and cheese. Soup and salad choices include seafood bisque, fisherman's stew, house tossed salad or baby romaine with cauliflower and honey nut squash. Here, find guidance on every Carnival cruise ship, from the newest to the oldest. As you might expect, pricing for ships will generally be lower during offseason periods such as September, October and parts of November.

www.carnival cruise line

Like other big-ship operators, Carnival packs a lot of dining options onto its vessels — some included in the price, some at an extra charge. Although Carnival has had onboard seafood options for years, this is a far cry from the pool deck's Seafood Shack (which recently sold me a mediocre crabcake). Instead, at Rudi's, you'll find a don't-miss lobster mac and cheese, plenty of meat and seafood selections, and crabcakes that are actually worth the price of admission.

Have Fun. Be Safe

It's a fun-at-sea focus that has gone to new levels over the past two years with the debut of Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration, each of which has — get this — a roller coaster on the top deck. At 800 feet in length, these aren't the biggest roller coasters ever. You'll find at least one of its ships sailing out of pretty much every major port city around the country. This is a notable change for the brand from just a couple of decades ago. There was a time when Carnival operated some of the biggest cruise ships in the world. Sodamin's larger-than-life personality and whimsical "food faces" — funny visages made from plated food — have led him to partnerships with several brands in the Carnival Corporation portfolio.

Fun for your whole crew

Across Firenze, you’ll see touches of Italy; think cute cafe set-ups that look like they were picked up from a Florence sidewalk. Terrazza staterooms access a private sun deck with whirlpools and a bar. Carnival’s fan-favorite dining options and amenities, like Guy’s Burger Joint and WaterWorks, will be on board.

Night Exotic Eastern Caribbean Cruise

The lower guest capacity, at just over 3,000 for double occupancy, means you won’t have to fight hoards of people to get to and from activities. Families who want even more cabin space should book one of the aft-view extended balcony rooms with great wake views and ample private outdoor space. With 27 ships and hundreds of itineraries, there’s a Carnival cruise for everyone.

When school is out, you can expect the number of kids to be well into the hundreds. You’ll do more than just pass the time as you sail from port to port. If you want to stick to seafood, go with one of the entrees like roasted halibut, red snapper, Dover sole, broiled lobster tail or the crabcake about which I was raving earlier.

Carnival has a point-based frequent cruiser program, the VIFP Club, that has five tiers, ranging from Blue (requiring no points) to Diamond (200 points). During the evenings, there is an official dress code, but it's pretty laid-back. Most nights are designated "cruise casual," which means just that — khakis or jeans, polo shirts, sundresses, etc. Super casual items such as cutoff jeans, men's sleeveless shirts, T-shirts and gym shorts aren't permitted.

The Destiny-class platform continued to be used in various iterations all the way to the Carnival Splendor in 2008. The same year the veteran ship Festivale, the last of the original second-hand fleet, was retired. Adults can dine there for $49 per person, which includes a starter, main and dessert. Kids 11 and younger can order from the children's menu for $15. Rudi's Seagrill, Carnival Cruise Line's high-end seafood restaurant, offers a menu of delicious and beautifully prepared dishes, served in a dining room that's light and airy. Glass fish accents and pops of blue color enhance the nautical vibe.

Such partners include Princess Cruises and Holland America Line, whose ships boast seafood eatery Rudi's Sel de Mer. Online Check-inU.S Department of Homeland Security (DHS) requires Carnival Cruise Line to submit a final departure manifest with specific guest information at least 60 minutes prior to departure. All guests are required to provide us with check-in information by completing their Online Check-in and selecting their Arrival Appointment no later than midnight (eastern time) prior to their sailing date. Carnival Conquest takes cruisers to the Bahamas and the Caribbean on two to 10-day sailings. Special programs allow kids to see their favorite Dr. Seuss characters at sea, and adults can enjoy the enticing Alchemy Bar for one-of-a-kind cocktails.

Other popular venues found on some Carnival ships include RedFrog Pub, which serves up Carnival's tasty housemade beers on tap, as well as plenty of other choices. Carnival is also well known for the Punchliner Comedy Clubs on its ships, which draw quality comedians and can get a little raucous late at night with adult-only performances. Carnival also uses its big theaters for lots of interactive shows that involve you, the passenger, getting a little silly. They include Lip Sync Battle Carnival — a shipboard adaptation of the Paramount Network TV series — and Hasbro, the Game Show. The overarching idea for Carnival's ship deployments is that a large percentage of the U.S. population can reach one of the line's ships by car, saving the cost of flights. However, with two exceptions, they're not giants by today's standards.

Stockholm Astoria      1948 present

astoria cruise ship

That is fine with me because it gives me a chance to explore the Astoria and sit on the deck watching the ocean roll. Long after many cruise ships have ceased sailing the world’s oceans, the Astoria continues to entertain guests in comfortable fashion. Bad weather, incorrect communication and wrong maneuvers seemed to combine for a maritime tragedy. On the fateful day of July 25, 1956, the Andrea Doria was on her way to New York on her 101st transatlantic crossing. Off the coast of Nantucket, Massachusetts, the Andrea Doria encountered thick fog.

Astoria Leaves Cruise and Maritime Voyages' Fleet

It was fascinating to see that little had changed in the public spaces, 6 years and 2 owners later, but the cabins have had some upgrading and the ship now has different external colours. I was amused to note that one of the bathroom towels in our cabin had the CIC logo embossed on it - they went out of business in the autumn of 2012. Astoria is a ship rich in history and quite a venerable old lady of the seas. On December 3, 2008 while underway to Australia, Athena was attacked by pirates in the Gulf of Aden. However when a US Navy Orion aircraft which was patrolling the area circled above the Athena, most of the pirates fled.

Cruises for Communist Party members

This floating piece of cruise history may be nearing her final voyage but I, along with many others, hope the old Stockholm can survive for years to come. This classic ship offers an intimate cruise experience not available on larger vessels today and is a welcome option for its devotees. In another unusual twist, Linda’s father, ABC Radio Network news commentator Edward P. Morgan, was reporting on the deadly collision of the ocean liners.

Deck 3 (Atlantic) has cabins (including my cabin 322) and the Olissipo Restaurant. What I like most about the Olissipo – besides the food – are the porthole-style windows which are original to the Stockholm era. Off to the side of the Olissipo is a small gallery known as the Steak House which costs extra. I didn’t eat there but other passengers said they do recommend the steak.

To start at the beginning, the Stockholm was at the time the largest passenger ship ever built in Sweden, although she was one of the smallest in regular Atlantic service. Departing from New York, she was under the watch of third officer Johan-Ernst Carstens-Johannsen. Cruise Hive was established back in 2008 and among the earliest blogs in the industry. Since the start, it's been our aim to provide the latest cruise news covering all the major cruise lines.

The cruise pier in Aalborg is right in the centre of this enchanting Danish town. We were made to feel extremely welcome here and thoroughly enjoyed our time ashore. CMV had arranged for a vintage car club to have a 'meet' by the terminal and also for a Danish hot-dog stand to provide free refreshments adjacent to the ship's gangway.

The ship, which is marking 75 years since her maiden voyage, has not operated since the pandemic shut down the cruise industry nearly three years ago. Brokers, cited in a report by Tradewinds, are saying that the vessel which is currently laid up in Rotterdam is being sold for recycling and will soon be towed out to the breakers yard.

Stockholm’s bow had just been snapped of by the Italian liner due to her speed. For such a small ship, the Astoria does have many areas where passengers can gather to socialize or can find spaces for alone time. I haven’t used the two elevators because it is so easy to walk up or down to wherever I am going. And if I am supposed to meet friends in the Sirenes Bar, I know it is a short walk from my cabin to the meeting spot. Specializing in ocean, river, ultra-luxury, small ship and expedition cruises.

Five Stockholm crewmembers were killed by the impact and Andrea Doria passengers were swept into the sea. Both tried to avoid a collision but the Stockholm’s thick icebreaker bow sliced through the Andrea Doria’s starboard side, leaving a gaping hole and ripping open seven of her 11 decks. The Italian liner Andrea Doria, on the other hand, was considered one of the most beautiful ships afloat with three outdoor swimming pools and an art gallery filled with paintings, tapestries and surrealist murals.

Stockholm was refitted in 1953, resulting in expanding her capacity to 548 passengers by extending her superstructure forward and aft and installing extra passenger cabins. Three years later during yet another refit, an outdoor pool was added and a cinema. This was to make her a bit more luxurious as she was cruising off-season now from North Carolina to Cuba, the Bahama’s and Bermuda, mostly during the winter months.

Both ships made last-minute turns that resulted in the Stockholm T-boning the Andrea Doria. Because the Stockholm was built as an ice-cutting ship, it sliced nearly all the way through the Andrea Doria.

Next are listed the inaugural itineraries in 2022, scheduled by the Russian shipping company Akvilon Cruise Line, all of which are roundtrips from Sochi. The ship Astoria Grande is currently homeported in Sochi Russia (Black Sea). No Casino is available onboard, but the boat has a swimming pool, wellness complex (SPA, Fitness), a golf area (with an indoor putting green and a golf simulator). The Theatre Lounge is the largest venue, featuring a full-width Bar & Disco. A lot of open-deck space is available for strolling, walking, and playing sports (football, volleyball, basketball, tennis).

Carnival Breeze: An Exciting Carnival's Adventure from Galveston

carnival cruise galveston texas

The suggested attire for women on such nights is cocktail dresses, pantsuits, elegant skirts and blouses. Passengers who wish to avoid dressing up can enjoy dinner in any of the casual eateries aboard. Passengers link credit cards to their onboard accounts or put up a set amount of cash to charge against, using their keycards as a means of making purchases. The only time you might want to have some bills handy is for tipping your room steward, bartenders, room service delivery people, luggage porters or shore excursion guides. During "halftime," the ship's theater singers and dancers put on a show on the pool deck, dressed in team colors to support the fictional Carnival University — the team cruisers are supposedly cheering on during the festivities. The second new show is the "Lone Star Tailgate." Drawing on Texas' love for all things football, Carnival has created four indoor/outdoor "quarters" of fun to mimic the four quarters of a football game.

Carry-on drinks policy

Dislikes for me include a shower door that opens toward you instead of into the shower, making the already tiny bathroom even tighter. I also didn't like the "SNOOZIN'" door hangers, which often got caught in my door when I closed it; I would've rathered a "do not disturb" button like many other new ships have. Speaking of the bed, it was exceptionally comfortable, and I was excited to find that the TV across from it had a sizable selection of free movies (as well as newer releases for a fee). The TV also allows you to watch select live channels and shipboard programming and to check your onboard bill.

Again, I couldn't fit every single restaurant into my time on Carnival Jubilee, so I missed out on Bonsai Teppanyaki, where chefs grill your food right in front of you, complete with corny jokes. I also missed Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse, another Guy Fieri creation that serves barbecue fare, wings and microbrewed beer made right on the ship (lunch is free). I couldn't make it to Chef's Table, an exclusive multicourse small-group dining experience that's the most pricey meal on board, either.

In my experience, waiters were diligent in asking about dietary requirements and restrictions. However, it was disappointing to see that many menus weren't marked with specific options for vegetarians, vegans and people who can't eat gluten. Unless you specifically request your cabin steward to come at night for turndown service instead of earlier in the day, your room will be made up in the morning. Hang the "SNOOZIN'" card on the outside of your door, and no one will bother you — but your room won't be cleaned that day.

Dining aboard the Carnival Dream is a culinary journey, offering a range of dining options from casual to fine dining. Each restaurant and eatery provides a unique dining atmosphere, with menus designed to cater to diverse tastes and dietary needs. As well, the cruise line announced other “Texan” touches as it settles into its home. Notably, each cruise will have a “Lone Star Tailgate” on the pool deck — a three-hour event with music, games, and giveaways. Music from Texas artists will even be played in areas around the ship. From a tiny port that first started serious cruising in 2000, the Port of Galveston has grown into a powerhouse serving five cruise lines across three terminals, with hundreds of departures annually and seeing more than a million passengers each year.

On another night, I showed up on time for Family Feud Live in the ship's theater, and it was a standing-room-only situation. The sizes of the performance venues are generally way too small for the number of passengers wishing to watch the shows. Outside, the area continues with The Patio, which features a pool and hot tubs, and neighboring The Watering Hole, a bar that serves the space. Surrounding the stage are tons of seating options, as well as JavaBlue Cafe, which serves coffee and snacks; Cherry on Top candy shop; the Center Stage and Grand View Bars; and Bonsai Sushi and Teppanyaki. It also serves as an access point for the onboard shops, Piano Bar 88, The Punchliner Comedy Club and the Jubilee Casino. The Carnival Dream is equipped with a plethora of amenities and facilities designed for fun, relaxation, and entertainment.

Carnival Dream, Mexico & Belize from Galveston, November 24, 2024

Excel Suites, Carnival Jubilee's highest-level accommodations, receive all standard suite perks plus additional ones. The ship shares Carnival's "zone" concept with its two older sisters, meaning it has dedicated areas for dining, drinking, entertainment and outdoor fun, including Bolt, a top-deck roller coaster. The biggest differences on the newest iteration are in two reinvented zones, Currents and The Shores; respectively, they take the place of The French Quarter and La Piazza on Mardi Gras, and The Gateway and 820 Biscayne on Carnival Celebration. Set sail from a historic jewel in the Gulf of Mexico on Carnival cruises out of Galveston, Texas.

Meanwhile, lines at the onboard deli and pizzeria counters frequently snake so far down Deck 8 that they block the entrance to seafood restaurant Rudi's Seagrill. One night, as I was dining at Rudi's with some of my travel companions, we joked that the lines were dangerously close to melding with the line for the nearby guest services desk. Although it's often loud, busy and difficult to navigate, especially on sea days, it's a prime place to sit and people-watch. I found myself gravitating there repeatedly to enjoy coffee or a snack from the nearby JavaBlue Cafe while watching the cast from that night's show rehearse at Center Stage — something you can't usually do on other ships. Carnival reserves the right to re-instate the fuel supplement for all guests at up to $9 per person per day if the NYMEX oil price exceeds $70 per barrel.

I decided to stay to see what it was all about, and I'm sorry I did. As costumed Dr. Seuss characters arrived, Carnival staff asked the children to scream solely for the sake of screaming. Ear-piercing shrieks reverberated throughout the space, which was also blocked off to passengers trying to pass through. I arrived 15 minutes early for a magic show at the Punchliner Comedy Club, and I couldn't find a single available seat in the entire place.

With calming seafoam green and yellow decor alongside extras like Elemis toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, these are some of the most relaxing cabins on any ship. These guests also receive priority spa appointments and free access to fitness classes and the onboard thermal suite. Carnival Jubilee's demographics run the gamut from families with young kids or extended family groups to groups of friends, couples and even solo cruisers (even though it doesn't have any cabins for singles). Guests can enjoy Broadway-style shows, live music, comedy acts, and a lively casino.
